BUXTED FC IN HOT WATER

-thanks to local firms generosity!

B2_edited.jpg

Buxted Football club and the David Butcher Pavilion have undergone some significant improvements during lockdown.

However, there was one significant issue…

The 1960’s hot water system wouldn’t have looked out of place on the antiques roadshow!

Installed when the Pavilion was first built, the copper cylinders were failing and inefficient, the club needed replacements and sought quotations for this costly (but vital work).

Several plumbing companies were asked to quote, including local firm ‘Village Heating’ and the response from company director Darren Standing was simply ‘breath-taking’ said Richard Turner (Buxted FC chairman).

‘Darren stated that replacing copper cylinders with like for like replacements was only one option’ he went on to say that Village Heating would like to supply and install two of the latest efficient high capacity stainless steel cylinders completely free of charge!

True to their word, Village heating sent one of their specialist installers and after a long, hard day’s work the job was complete – leaving the David Butcher Pavilion ready to face the next sixty years…

The new upgraded system, future proofing the venue for years to come - Richard Turner said ‘we cannot thank Darren and his team at Village Heating enough, what they have done for the club and the community is astounding.

This latest improvement bolsters the efforts of some dedicated volunteers that have painstakingly decorated and upgraded the interior whilst the exterior has also been given a new lease of life with crisp white cladding and the addition of three picture windows that now provide a view of the pitch from the comfort of the clubhouse.

The bar has been completely refurbished with new lighting, improved refrigeration and customer service facilities.

New outdoor furniture has been added – providing a place for visitors to be seated and the pitch had had significant investment with tonnes of topsoil, as well as specialist aeration treatments to improve drainage.

We are proud to announce Buxted Football Club has officially renamed the clubhouse 'David Butcher Pavilion.'

David better known to most by the name of 'Butch' has been a valuable part of our club for over 50 years. He has dedicated his life to the club and is still now very much an important key member. If it wasn't for Butch our club wouldn't be the success it is today.

We are very grateful to Scantech Printers for designing, manufacturing and donating the incredible sign to our club! https://www.facebook.com/scantech/

The Sussex football club who have used the lockdown to their advantage

While the lockdown has put a lot of pressure on most sports teams, Buxted FC have used it to their advantage.

By Mark Dunford

Friday, 15th May 2020, 9:01 am

The Mid Sussex League outfit have started work on relaying their pitch this week - which will help get rid of the ’Buxted bobble’ - and have plenty of projects i n the pipeline.

And recognising they are not the only ones with financial pressures, they have taken steps to back their current sponsors by offering them free sponsorship throughout the 2020/21 season.

The club have been saving for a couple of years and used fundraising events to help pay for the new pitch and they can’t wait to get back playing when next season starts.

Assistant first team manager Dan Reardon said: “I would say in a strange way lockdown has given us all time to think about how we can improve the club further and build on the success we achieved this season on and off the pitch. We have lots of projects in the pipeline.

“Like everyone we are itching to get back playing. Football may not be being played, but behind the scenes everyone is participating in zoom calls to ensure the club is ready for when the new season can start.

“The exciting news is that the major pitch work started this week, in preperation for when we can start playing again.

“Fingers crossed the Buxted Bobble will be no more! Everyone behind the scenes are in regular contact getting everything prepared for next season whenever that maybe, we aim to continue building on the success and hard work of last season.”

Buxted FC currently have two senior teams - the first team play in Mid Sussex Division 1 and our seconds play in Division 4.

Reardon added: “We have been saving for a couple of years, lots of fundraising events have taken place to enable this to happen. But this year we have also seen a large increase in club sponsors that has helped massively.”

And it’s those sponsors the club want to thank by giving them a great offer.

Reardon said: “We have also given our sponsors our full backing.

“Buxted FC would like to thank you for your continued support through the 2019/2020 football season. Although it was cut short due to Covid-19 what an amazing season we have had.

“This would not have been possible without local sponsors helping to keep the club running effectively which enabled us to offer grassroots football in Buxted/Uckfield to both kids and adults.

“In these uncertain times we are currently witnessing due to COVID-19 we feel it is not the time to chase sponsorship renewals for the 2020/2021 season. We feel it’s is our time to support you, as small business have been affected hugely in this pandemic.

“We have agreed as a club to offer our current sponsors free sponsorship through the 2020/21 season, If you have already sponsored us for the season ahead we will honour free sponsorship for the following season.”
