Carol Anne Slater
Contemporary Oil Painter
Carol Anne Slater was born in the City of London into an entrepreneurial artistic family.
She has a fascination with nature and is influenced by the changing landscape of Sussex. She uses colour as a catalyst to express her feelings and to create an emotional response when the person views her paintings.
Carol Anne starts a painting from ideas gathered whilst standing in the Sussex countryside and reworks the canvas until it takes on a form of its own. By using large expressive strokes in all directions she builds interest in the painting and creates wild rugged landscapes, using med tones to give her paintings a strong physical presence.
She exhibits widely in the UK and won a prize at the V & A for a painting in the style of Turner in 2015; exhibited at Chelsea Art Society Summer Exhibition and has been preselected by ROI and the British Women Artists for their summer exhibitions.
In August 2022, she was delighted to have been chosen to be part of the open ART programme at the Towner Gallery Eastbourne.
In 2023 she gained a wild card place at the Sky ARTS Landscape of the Year competition where she was commended by the judges on her use of colour.
She was chosen by BBC as one of England’s nurses who have made a significant contribution to health care. Her story was filmed at St Bartholomew’s Hospital London on the Antiques Road Show Nurse Special BBC1 February 26th 2023
Carol Anne was delighted to have been selected to appear on the BBC Nurse Special Antiques Road Show in February 2023.
